A606. Onshore petroleum and natural gas production reporters must use the calculation methods in 40 CFR 98.233(q) if they are required or elect to conduct equipment leak surveys using the methods in 40 CFR 98.234(a). This leaker factor approach is specific to individual equipment components (such as valves, flanges, connectors, open ended lines, and pressure relief devices), which include equipment components on wellheads, separators, and other equipment. Otherwise, an onshore petroleum and natural gas production facility may use the population count methodology in 40 CFR 98.233(r)to calculate emissions from equipment leak components.
